Rase-Montagne
This wine is bold, juicy, and just a little wild — like the night that always starts with “just one glass.” Syrah brings the spice, Alicante brings the color and body, and together they make a blend that’s smooth, powerful, and far too easy to finish. Pairs with grilled meats, late-night pizza, and questionable decisions. Big, bold, and guaranteed to stain your teeth… and maybe your reputation.

$9.99 is my sweet spot. My guilty pleasure type of wine. I LOVE finding wine I enjoy for less than $10.
I went with my son and a group of dads and kids from his class to Cleveland last weekend for the Panthers game (not the ideal outcome). Prices of things when you travel border on the absurd.
I can get a diet coke at Costco for like $0.25 a can. That same can at the hotel in Cleveland cost $5. It's the same product for the love.
While its not an exact comparison - if I can find a wine that is pretty darn close to ones I really love at half the price? HUGE win.
Anyway - back to what makes Rase Montagne, our 2nd place finisher in our Prisoner blind tasting earlier this year, so special.
It's deep, dark red blend from the south of France that potentially is going to cause a paradigm shift for you in your belief in what is possible with wine under $10.
What’s cool is that blends like this didn’t even used to exist on the French wine scene. For decades, everything had to be labeled by place name, not grape. Unless you knew your regions by heart, you had no idea what was actually in the glass. Now, with Rase Montagne, you can just say “Alicante + Syrah” and know exactly why it tastes the way it does.
While I aim to keep my reputation intact, I am ok with big and bold...and I plan on having this evening with some beef ragu we made in the crockpot.
Happy Tuesday all!!
