Antoine de la Farge L'Enfant Rebelle Rose
Here Antoine de la Farge employs what he calls a “back of the truck maceration”, by leaving the juice and skins together just long enough to transport the must from the vineyard to the winery. You get some strawberry and red currant notes, and the wine is a light, pretty pink from only an hour or two on the skins.
Balcon sur la Mer Rose
The first time I ever saw this bottle and tried the wine, I kinda felt like I was transported onto a luxurious vacation. Someplace like Saint Barths. But I'm not paying and someone is just pouring me lovely rosé in infinite quantities as my feet rest in the sand. Balcon delivers everything you want in a great rosé in spades. This unctuous pink wine is dry, stony, fruity, lengthy. Comprised of Grenache, Grenache Gris and Mourvedre.
Swimbad Rose
Rosé is the tipple of the tempting whether we are in Touraine, Tempe, Tuscaloosa, Tuscany or Saint-Tropez. Provence, the archetypal French vacationland, is the poster child for what modern rosé ought to be. Pale, quenching, lip-smacking.

Solanilla
Gascony doesn't mess around when it comes to value, and Solanilla is a perfect example of why. It's a 50/50 blend of Colombard and Sauvignon Blanc, two grapes that were practically made for each other. Colombard is the local hero here, the flagship white grape of the Côtes de Gascogne, and Sauvignon Blanc turns up the freshness dial. The result is crisp, lively, and dangerously easy to drink.
Burns Landing
This 100% single-vineyard Cabernet comes from Alexander Valley's eastern hillside slopes—red volcanic soils in the Mayacamas foothills, the same range behind Napa's most expensive Cabs. Planted by the legendary viticulturist who gave us Opus One and Mondavi's To-Kalon. The result? Small, intensely concentrated fruit with natural acidity and structure.
Cape Charles Chardonnay
When it comes to Carneros, it’s the proximity to San Pablo Bay that matters. Every time it heats up in central Napa or even in the Central Valley, the air rises and is replaced by the cold, foggy stuff flowing under and through the Golden Gate Bridge and all along San Pablo Bay. The sun burns it off each morning and grapes that require acidity for balance (like Chardonnay) thrive in it.

We like to shop in the Languedoc-Roussillon; it’s a place in Mediterranean France that has been important for more than a century but, despite the noise about inexpensive Bordeaux wines, remains the place to shop for value. Chateau Franc Pipeau
If the Bertrand name sounds familiar, it should — their sister estates Château Carteau and Château Vieux Lescours have been breakout stars for us. With the price finally right, we’re excited to bring you Franc Pipeau, from a family that’s been making wine in Saint-Émilion since 1850 across five generations on prized clay-limestone slopes. Jacques Bertrand even served as President of both the Saint-Émilion Wine Syndicate and the Jurade de Saint-Émilion — serious credentials. The wine is classic Right Bank Bordeaux: 75% Merlot, 25% Cabernet Franc, hand-harvested from 6.5 hectares in Saint-Hippolyte at the foot of the côte.

Tatiana Guillot Beaujolais
Most Americans have no idea how great the Beaujolais region has become. The last two decades have seen it grow, crafting some of the most intriguing AND affordable wines of France. It’s important to understand not all Beaujolais is the same, if you think Beaujolais Nouveau represents the character of Beaujolais, you’re dead wrong. Like the best Beaujolais, Julienas is firm, intense, tannic and nothing at all like the simple fruity wine from past.
Pedrera
It's the "baby Clio." Same winemaker, same estate, same approach. Just younger vines that don't quite meet the strict quality bar for Clio itself. Think of it like the second wine of a great Bordeaux château - made from the same property, with the same care, but at a fraction of the price.
Maison de Flottes Brut
When you ferment grape juice into wine, you get carbon dioxide. With most wines, you let the CO2 drift up into the air. With sparkling wine, you just keep the container of fermenting grapes sealed and you bottle the wine with the bubbles in it as well. It can be more complicated, of course, but that’s roughly how The Florensac Vignerons have made this Picpoul and Terret blend. Consider it racy, lively and perfect for a sunny summer.
Bleu Blanc Thau
This blend of Picpoul,Terret, and Colombard is so tasty, so refreshingly crisp (but still weighty enough to matter) and, dare we say it, a freaking value that it practically crawled into our bag and said take me home the first time we tasted it.
Kingstree Chardonnay
The Pays D'Oc grows a staggering amount of Chardonnay, and most of it is perfectly fine. This one, from marl and limestone soils, is the kind you tell people about. Stainless steel keeps it clean and fresh, and the place does the rest.
Dosoris Lane Proprietary Red
Maybe one of the most hyped up wines this year, Dosoris Lane is all about showing what type of crazy quality you can produce for under $15. Think black pepper notes from a little Syrah. The black fruits in the middle suggest a little bit of Cabernet; the red fruits and white pepper hint at Grenache. Put it all together and you have some epic red wine from the sunny south of France, with expansive and bright flavors.
Chateau Grand Billard
If you ask any wine expert to name the value wines, they will likely reel off only a few dozen well-known names, and some of them count Grand Billard amongst them. It’s the basic Sauvignon Blanc blend, with mostly used barrels to keep the cost reasonable. This is from the critically raved about 2022 vintage so check out the wine to see what the fuss is all about.
Kingstree Proprietary Red
The first rule of Pays d’Oc is: there is no rulebook. The second rule of Pays d’Oc is: see above. While the rest of France legislates which grapes go where down to the centimeter, this stretch of the Languedoc lets Cabernet Sauvignon do whatever it wants, including hanging out with grapes it technically shouldn’t. The result is dark, ripped, and a little dangerous: think Tyler Durden, if Tyler Durden had firm tannins instead of abs. (Honestly, might have both.)
Dosoris Lane Blanc
Sometimes you just have to embrace the mystery of wine; truth be told, we don’t know which grapes are in this wine. They wouldn’t tell us, but we didn’t care after we tasted it. Neither merely crisp or full and rich; the wine straddles a really nice place that is refreshing and patio-perfect, but that has some weight and character to handle rich fish or even grilled chicken.
Brooks Bank Cabernet
This 100% Cabernet is full of dark berry flavors to offset its tough guy tannins. This is BIG wine for little money. It’s basically the wine equivalent to Patrick Swayze in “Roadhouse.” Best movie EVER.
Darley Alexander Valley Red
Darley is 100% single vineyard Cabernet from a famed vineyard in Alexander Valley. One that currently produces some $75 Cabernet, a $200+ Malbec (what?!?!?), and an $85 Sauvignon Blanc among other craziness. 93% Cabernet, 4% Petit Verdot, 2% Malbec and 1% Merlot showcases intense black fruits with lengthy velvety tannins.
Domaine Priou Sauvignon Blanc
Sure, most people think that France is neatly laid out, codified and completely explored but, outside of Burgundy and Bordeaux, there are still plenty of vineyards that deserve more attention. The Loire Valley demands that kind of recognition and, in the era of climate change, it is increasingly a source of delicious wines. Sauvignon Blanc used to be notable only from Sancerre and Pouilly Fumé. Equal measures of fruit and mineral.
The Palace Thief #2
Most of the Napa OGs have been bought out or at least changed hands numerous times. The winery behind Palace Thief Napa, starting in 1969, has remained owned and run by the same family. Now, it’s a third-generation project but the critical piece, the vineyards, is really what has allowed this family to achieve such demonstrated excellence. The Cabs are firm, powerful and very classically Napa-esque.
Benieres Chardonnay
Love Sonoma Cutrer? Try Benieres Chardonnay! The vast vineyards of France’s Languedoc hold many well-known grapes, including Chardonnay that is friendly and accessible. This one is gathered from organic vineyards on the Aspères plateau with its excellent marl and limestone soils. The winemaking is straightforward – stainless steel fermenters and just enough lees stirring to enrich the texture and flavors. We love finding wines like this!
Huteau Boulanger Sauvignon Blanc
Huteau Boulanger is a rather new idea in Loire Valley wine: they are based in Muscadet but produced more than that crisp and racy wine. They buy grapes from throughout the Loire, fashioning honest (and affordable) wines in the region. The company was founded by Catherine and François Boulanger and has 45 hectares of vineyards. Indeed, their spot in Muscadet isn’t historical or familial for them; they traveled extensively before choosing the terroir of Muscadet Sévre et Maine. Their Sauvignon Blanc is ready to drink upon release (some Sauvignon Blancs from terroirs like Sancerre can take a few years to loosen up) and that too is one of the merits of their project.
Minairo
The fame of Priorat is both recent and ancient; the beautiful Escaladei (Steps of God) mountain formation frames the monastery of Santa Maria of Escaladei; it was founded in the 12th century by Alfonso the Chaste (poor guy). And over the last few decades, the slate and quartz soils called llicorella generate super low yields and super concentrated wines. Grenache and Carignan dominate but this blend includes small amounts of Syrah and Merlot; six months in French oak barrels offers a wine that is powerful but still framed by useful acidity.
Domaine Priou Pinot Noir
François et Jean-François Priou mostly grow Sauvignon Blanc along the River Cher; their Touraine Sauvignon Blanc is a great value. Certain places that didn’t used to be able to ripen certain grapes are finding it easier to show off. While you might not think of the Loire Valley for Pinot Noir, it’s routinely grown there and, if you haven’t had a chance to drink any of the ethereal versions of the grape in this region, now it’s your chance.

The fame of Priorat is both recent and ancient; the beautiful Escaladei (Steps of God) mountain formation frames the monastery of Santa Maria of Escaladei; it was founded in the 12th century by Alfonso the Chaste (poor guy). And over the last few decades, the slate and quartz soils called llicorella generate super low yields and super concentrated wines. Grenache and Carignan dominate but this blend includes small amounts of Syrah and Merlot; six months in French oak barrels offers a wine that is powerful but still framed by useful acidity.
