Is this the deal of the year? It may not even be close...
We're breaking out some bubbles today to celebrate the amazing life of the one and only Dolly Parton.
In an era of celebrities and business folk flaunting wealth, mega yachts, Gulfstreams, and private clubs, Dolly flaunted something else entirely: kindness. Giving Back. Remembering exactly where you come from and taking care of the people that are still there.
She was born in a cabin on Locust Ridge, Tennessee, the fourth of twelve children. Her father, who could neither read nor write, paid the doctor who delivered her with a sack of cornmeal.
There are plenty of roundups on Dolly and the woman that she was, the impact she had and her life story floating all over the internet. One charity in particular that she was most fond of was her Imagination Library, based in her home county and at the start provided a free book, mailed to a child's home, every single month from birth until age five. No forms needed to fill out. No strings attached. Just books showing up for kids in their mailbox.
Today the program has donated over 300 MILLION books to children all over the world, including right here in North Carolina and Georgia.
So this week we are raising a glass to her and we're making a donation of $500 to the Imagination Library today in memory of Dolly Parton. We would encourage you to donate if you can, even $5, to help celebrate a life well lived. You can donate here. We will also be donating $1 from each bottle sold today to the library as well. The thirstier you are, the more books we get to give.
The wine we are choosing to celebrate and remember her with? Wunsch & Mann Cremant. A special wine for a special woman.
Made by a family that has farmed the same Alsatian hillsides since 1793. Certified organic. Made by the exact same method as Champagne, second fermentation in the bottle and all, for $19.99.
Her family's statement called it "a rhinestone life that shone bright enough for the world to see."
Raise one tonight. Remember what Dolly said, "Don't get so busy making a living that you forget to make a life."
