I expect some fireworks today.

A wine we first tasted back in February, that completely blew us away, has finally made it's appearance. Oh, and the price is downright silly.

Château Eyquem is one of those estates that doesn’t ask for attention, it earns it. The vineyards trace back to Roman times; the château itself was once the 17th-century summer retreat of Louis d’Eyquem (yes — of that Eyquem lineage, tied to the philosopher Montaigne). Perched high above the Gironde estuary, the vines draw on a mix of clay and limestone soils and are farmed with a deliberate respect for the land and its rhythms. Everything about this place feels composed. Measured. First class all the way.

What’s in the glass reflects that same quiet assurance — a wine of depth and refinement, without pretense or flash. 

Here’s the real kicker - the $14.99 price we can offer you. Wines of this resonance, from a vineyard with character, uncommonly priced. After 20 years of doing this I can confidently say that wines of this pedigree simply don't usually live in this price point anymore.

Sooooooooo....if you’ve been looking for something that hits beyond “nice everyday Bordeaux” but doesn’t ask you to empty the vaults, this is it.
