It's gonna be nice and warm this weekend, which means I'm drinking some nice white wine. 

I kinda enjoy opening up nicer bottles on the weekends. It's like a treat for working so hard and making it to the supposed finish line...unless you have kids that play weekend sports and then all Friday night is the night before weekend sports mayhem 😂

My choice this weekend? L&C Poitout Chablis.

Why, do you ask?

For all the talk about rare plots, ungrafted vines, and Premier Cru slopes, sometimes it’s the “straight Chablis” that steals the show. Because when you strip everything back, this is the beating heart of the region: Chardonnay on limestone soils formed by ancient seas, made without oak, bottled to taste like pure Chablis.

The 2023 L&C Poitout Chablis is exactly that. The fruit comes from a mosaic of plots across the Serein Valley — gentle slopes with just the right exposure to keep things bright, precise, and mineral-driven. In the cellar, Louis and Catherine keep their hands off: short ferment, full malo, no barrels, nothing to get between you and the terroir...just like us wine nerds like it!

And it tastes like it should: pale gold in the glass, fresh and lively on the nose. The palate is clean and mouthwatering, smooth yet lifted, finishing with that unmistakable Chablis snap.
